Public Servant

Shane’s father was a small business owner here in Decatur. His father started working for Frank’s Sport Shop as a teenager and later opened Mendenhall’s Sports Center. One of the most important lessons he taught Shane was how important it was to give back and support the communities that we call home. Those words have always stuck with Shane through everything he does.

Shane values being involved in the community and giving back. He has served as a Village Trustee for the Village of Mt. Zion and on the Board of Directors for the Mt. Zion Foundation of Quality Education. Shane previously served as a Board Member for the Macon County Animal Shelter and with the Millikin University Alumni Association. He also is currently a Trustee at First Christian Church in Decatur and the President-elect for the Decatur Attorney Bar Association.

Experienced Lawyer

After graduating from law school, Shane and his wife wanted to get back to their roots in order to serve and give back to the community that had given them so much. Shane began his legal practice at Bolen Robinson & Ellis, LLP (“BRE Law”) in 2008 and became a partner in the firm only 2 years later in 2010. Shane has devoted his career to representing families and small businesses through Central Illinois with respect and dignity. He has had the opportunity to practice law in a vast number of areas, including business law, estate planning, injury work, class actions, and civil litigations. As explained by Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird, the courts are the great equalizer in this country. Shane believes that regardless of race, gender, ethnicity or wealth, every individual who walks in the courthouse doors should be treated impartially, respectfully, and with dignity because everyone is equal in the eyes of the law. BRE Law’s managing partner, Chris Ellis, said “Shane and I have worked closely together for over 13 years. He has the experience, judgement, and temperament to serve the people of Macon County very well.”

Family Man

Shane’s greatest motivation to serve the community is his family and faith. He currently lives in Long Creek with his wife, Alison, of 16 years. They have been blessed with four wonderful children: Emmarie, Brexton, and their twins Brennan and Emberlynn. He believes in setting a good example for both his children and the community. Shane is a volunteer soccer coach for Midstate Soccer Club, where he is able to spend time as the coach for his children’s soccer teams.  Shane is also an avid outdoorsman and enjoys spending time fishing, camping, and hunting with his children.

Family and faith are Shane’s greatest motivations. He wants his children to grow up in a community that is safe. A community that is fair and just. A Community where people are treated with respect and at the same time held accountable for their actions.
